Synlait is a Canterbury milk production company, producing more than 70 million litres of milk a year.  As a newly independent company, Synlait is expanding its farming operations to produce 100 million litres of milk a year, one percent of New Zealand’s total milk production.

Synlait has recently completed building its own milk processing facility in Dunsandel, Canterbury and successfully commenced milk production on 2 August 2008.  The plant exports milk powder products and high–value functional ingredients to the world’s leading functional food manufacturers.

Synlait is growing rapidly and has created many job opportunities in the region. Synlait is working towards maintaining total control over production, processing, marketing and distribution to guarantee customers absolute food safety, security and traceability.  In this way, Synlait will be New Zealand’s first genuine cow–to–customer dairy export company.

The Company has sourced equity from Mitsui & Co Ltd of Japan - a major step for a New Zealand dairy export company.
